Preface

This volume was created for those who wish to be prepared for the different English tests

intended by the Armed Forces and Police Forces and faces the exam program of the

written

pre-selection test

, the

Foreign Language Proficiency Assessment

and the

oral examina-

tion

.

In its first pages, this volume provides indications on the various English tests expected by

the various administrations and competitions; subsequently, it develops, in a concise and in-

cisive manner, the examination programs envisaged by the

Common European Framework

of Reference for Languages

.

The present volume has been created through the method of the text interlinear translation:

introducing contents in English with alongside its respective Italian translation. The purpose

of this choice, on the part of the authors, aims to give the reader – right from the start – the

chance to approach the English language and to test himself/herself with its structure, its

vocabulary and its morphosyntactic constructs.

A

Questions

section is included summarizing all the linguistic contents, which also tests

learners on the topics covered.

The content of this volume is, therefore, complete and exhaustive for the preparation of the

Armed Forces and Police Forces competitions concerning the English language. The au-

thors, in fact, committed themselves to developing the examination programs in the most

pertinent way possible to the requests of the Administrations and to present it in the simplest

form in order for each potential candidate to comprehend.

In conclusion, the main goal is to provide all learners who wish to pursue a career in the

Armed Forces or Police Forces with particularly effective tools to achieve optimal prepara-

tion and be able to face the English tests of each competition with the appropriate confidence,

certain to have studied incisively the specific topics required.
